     In the Mojo Rules! roleplay rules system, characters are created with only two types of stats - abilities and unique features, shortened to 'feats' in casual gaming circles.

     A feat is can be anything from a natural aptitude to a skill to a supernatural power - basically, anything that distinguishes the character from a regular, run of the mill person on the street.

Common types of feats


     The most common feats are skills, which show how good a character is at doing something, such as athletics? or a skill in Melee Combat.

     Certain feats are only normally available to characters who were born and brought up in a setting (called 'restricted feats' because they aren't banned for characters after play begins, but they're designed for starter characters and need special circumstances to be available later on). Of those, background and homeland feats are firmly rooted to a particular realm (external link). Background: Guardsman and Homeland: Caladon Kingdom from Relic (external link) are two examples of such feats.

     Supernatural feats are generally those which use Pulse (external link) to get an effect you wouldn't normally be able to achieve in the real world. Some are stand alone feats, like Child Of The Arrow.

     Other supernatural feats are part of Pulse paths, the methods of manipulating Pulse through wizardry, shamanism, prayer or the power of symbols. There you get a top level feat, such as 'Gifted' which is a pre-requisite of the various spells a wizard can learn. Each of those is a feat in its own right, like Spell: Fortuna Mia for example. There are also specialist schools of magic - alchemists? for instance are a specialization of wizardry in the realm of Relic, and you have to be 'gifted' to join the Alchemists Guild.

     There are other general feats, such as Naturally Lithe, which don't fit into any of the categories, and even negative feats like Evil Spirit which are a hindrance to the character... after all, those are unique features too!
